2011 NFL MVP Player Betting Odds: Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo

Can Tony Romo bounce back and win his first-ever NFL MVP award this season? The Dallas Cowboys QB opened at 20/1 on Bodog Sportsbook’s NFL MVP Player Betting Odds.

Last year was a total disaster for the Dallas Cowboys, a preseason Super Bowl favorite in 2010, and especially quarterback Tony Romo. He was on pace to record some of the best numbers of his career in 2010, but a fractured collarbone cost him the final 10 games of the season as Dallas finished 6-10.

The Dallas Cowboys are likely to be a pass-heavy team this season under head coach Jason Garrett, the former offensive coordinator who took over when Wade Phillips was fired last season.

Tony Romo certainly doesn’t lack targets. The receiver-tight end triumvirate of Miles Austin, Dez Bryant and Jason Witten should be among the NFL's best. In his second year, Bryant replaces Roy Williams as the team's No. 2 receiver opposite Austin.

Bryant is being counted on to give Dallas big-play flair to complement the reliability of Austin and Witten. Running back Felix Jones will get plenty of chances to make big plays on screen passes, and third-round pick DeMarco Murray was the best receiving back in the draft.

Dallas really does go how Romo goes. Since 2007, Dallas is 18-5 when Romo passes for at least 300 yards. By comparison, in the past three seasons the Cowboys are just 3-3 when they have a 100-yard rusher.

In the past four seasons, Romo has 72 touchdown passes and 25 interceptions in games Dallas has won and 27 touchdowns and 24 interceptions in its losses.

Romo has averaged 4,347 yards through the air in his two full seasons as the Cowboys' starter and was on pace to finish with better than 5,000 yards based on the numbers in his five full games in 2010.
