Manny Diaz - NCAA Football Odds: Texas Longhorns host Oklahoma State Cowboys

You almost have to feel sorry for Texas Longhorns defensive coordinator Manny Diaz. His unit had to try and stop one of the nation’s top offenses last week in Oklahoma and failed miserably. Now on Saturday it has to face an Oklahoma State Cowboys offense that probably is the best in the country. The Cowboys are 7-point road favorites on Bodog Sportsbook’s NCAA football odds with the total at 64.5.

Texas (4-1, 1-1 Big 12) looked exposed a bit in the Red River Rivalry, with the Sooners winning 55-17. Texas' only touchdown on offense came in the final minutes, long after Oklahoma was on its way to the most lopsided win over its Red River rival since 2003. UT had five turnovers and was outgained 453-259 and it could have been worse but OU called off the dogs in the fourth quarter. Texas failed to gain yards on 35 of its 81 (43.2 percent) plays. The Horns’ young QB duo of Case McCoy and David Ash each turned it over twice.

Now comes OSU (5-0, 2-0), which is No. 1 in the nation in scoring (51.4 ppg) and No. 2 in passing (431.2 ypg) behind the lethal combination of QB Brandon Weeden and the nation’s top receiver in Justin Blackmon. Last week the Pokes put up 70 points in rocking Kansas. Weeden threw for 288 yards and five scores (two to Blackmon) and was pulled for good before it was even halftime. The Cowboys scored touchdowns on all eight of their first-half possessions.

In a bit of a quirk, these two played last year also in Austin. The Cowboys won 33-16 to end a 12-game skid in the series and 11-game slide in Austin. It was 26-3 at halftime so the game was essentially over then. Weeden passed for 409 yards with Blackmon on the receiving end of 145 yards’ worth of those passes, including a 67-yard TD. The Pokes, who have won seven straight road games, had 308 yards of offense in the first half alone.

Texas coach Mack Brown is 13-0 the first game after playing Oklahoma, a streak that includes six wins over ranked opponents.
